Ad d itio n a l Fu n ctio n s
This document provides descriptions and explanations only for the following
features added in Version 2.
Please read this while also referring to the “VG-88 Owner’s Manual.”
■Ad d itio n a l Alg o rith m s
New algorithms have been added to the COSM guitar, COSM amp, and effects (Modulation,
Wah).
■CO SM Gu ita r
With the addition of “Sitar,” “Wave Synth,” and “Nylon II,” which produces an even more
realistic nylon guitar tone, the VG-88 now features 22 different COSM guitar types in all.
■CO SM Am p
The addition of 18 new amp algorithms now means you have a total of 32 amp types to
choose from.
■Mo d u la tio n
Addition of “Defretter” and “Uni-V” brings the total number of modulation algorithms to
12.
■W a h
5 types of “COSM Wah,” modeling vintage wah and other wah sounds, have been added to
the “Pedal Wah,” so now you can choose from 6 different pedal wah sounds.
■Ad d itio n a l Fu n ctio n s
■GK Co n n e ctio n De te ct
A new function, which automatically detects whether or not a GK instrument is connected,
and further, provides for the switching of the internal settings, has been added. Even when
the instrument is only connected to GUITAR INPUT, you can use all the functions except
COSM GUITAR (including the COSM AMP, effects, tuner, and other features).
■Bu lk Lo a d in Pla y p a g e
It is possible to receive the bulk dump data in Play page.

F.DECAY (filte r d e ca y ) [0 –1 0 0 ]
Adjusts the time for the modulation of the filtering from
WAVE SYN TH
F.ATTACK and F.DEPTH to stabilize.
These settings determine the waveform and volume of the
synth sound, adjust filters, and affect other aspects of the
sound.
F.DEPTH (filte r d e p th ) [-5 0 –+5 0 ]
This adjusts the depth of the filter. When the value is higher,
the filter will change more drastically. The polarity of the
filter will be opposite with “+” and “-.”
SHAPE
Selects the wave type on which the synth sound is based.
SAW:
Creates a synth sound with a sawtooth waveform.
SQUARE:
Creates a synth sound with a square waveform.
SEN S (se n sitivity ) [0 –1 0 0 ]
This controls the input sensitivity of the wave synth.
ATTACK [0 –1 0 0 ]
Adjusts the time it takes for the synth sound to rise after a
string is plucked. When it is set to a lower value, the sound
will rise quickly. When it is set higher, the sound will rise
slowly.
DECAY [0 –1 0 0 ]
Adjusts the time it takes for the synth sound to decay.
The synth sound decays more quickly when this parameter is
set to a lower value. Setting a higher value increases the
decay time.
LEVEL [0 –1 0 0 ]
Adjusts the volume of the synth sound.
CUTO FF [0 –1 0 0 ]
This adjusts the frequency at which the filter cuts off the
sound’s harmonic components (the cutoff frequency).
This parameter determines the sound that will result after the
filter has stopped varying due to F.DEPTH.
RESO (re so n a n ce ) [0 –1 0 0 ]
This sets the degree of resonance (distinctiveness) of the
sound. A higher value results in a sound that is more unique
and extraordinary.
F.TYPE (filte r ty p e ) [-1 2 d B, -2 4 d B]
Selects the level of attenuation in the filter. The -24 dB setting
has very steep filtering characteristics.
F.ATTACK (filte r a tta ck ) [0 –1 0 0 ]
Sets the TVF attack time.
